FAQ
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
What is the Il Posto Research Grant?
The Il Posto Research Grant is a benefit granted by Il Posto to early career researchers who want to develop research based on the works in the Il Posto Collection and/or the material available in the Research and Documentation Center of this institution (Il Posto Archive, Il Posto Library and Artists’ Books Collection).
What kind of projects does the Il Posto Research Grant fund?
The Il Posto Research Grant has had different modalities. In its first call, for example, its objective was to finance the development of a curatorial project that worked with the documents available in the Il Posto Archive; however, since its second call, the Il Posto Research Grant has been specifically aimed at research and writing projects that address the work of the artists and thematic nuclei presented in Il Posto’s exhibitions. Thus, in the present call, the Il Posto Research Grant proposes to fund research and writing projects that address the pictorial work of Chilean artist Gonzalo Díaz Cuevas, who will be the subject of the next Il Posto exhibition (March-June 2025).
Does my research and writing project need to specifically address the works that will be shown in the exhibition to be presented at Il Posto during the first semester of 2025?
No, it is not necessary for projects submitted to this call to specifically investigate the works that will be presented in this exhibition (which, by the way, will not be announced until the opening date). This means that your project can address any work or group of works by Gonzalo Díaz that allow you to reflect on his pictorial work or on his relationship with painting.
Can I apply for the Il Posto Research Grant with a project that contemplates the study of artists and/or research topics other than those that will be shown in the exhibition to be presented at Il Posto during the first semester of 2025?
Yes, there is no problem if your research contemplates the study of artists and/or research topics other than those modulating this exhibition, as long as you comply with the above requirements, i.e.: also (and above all) investigate the work and/or pictorial practice of Gonzalo Díaz.
Can I use resources available at the Il Posto Research and Documentation Center to develop my research and writing project?
Yes, Il Posto Research Grant recipients may use the resources available in the Archive, Library and Artists’ Book Collection of our Research and Documentation Center to develop their research and writing projects. To learn more about the contents of these documentary collections, you can consult our online catalog and/or visit us at José Miguel de la Barra 480, apartment 201 (Santiago, Chile).
