Since October 1, the Il Posto Gallery has been displaying the second part of the exhibition «Y de pronto ya no había más orilla» (And suddenly there was no more shore), which attempts to think about the concepts of wet and dry, water and desert, based on different works from the Il Posto Collection. On the occasion of this exhibition, the director of Il Posto Documentos, Antonio Echeverría, talked with Voluspa Jarpa about her work «Bandera Eriazo – First person plural» (1999), which forms part of the exhibition.
The conversation between our director and the Chilean artist revolved around various issues present in her work and that extend to other works shown in the exhibition. The pieces gathered here, made by artists from different geographies and generations, focus on the possibilities, textures, sensations and remnants of the arid, the drought and the desert as a way to reflect on the social memory of the continent, environmental sustainability and the transformation of the landscape.
