Carlos Altamirano
San Carlos, 1954
Chilean artist. He began studies at the school of architecture at the University of Chile based in Valparaíso but abandoned after two years to move to Santiago to study for a year and a half at the School of Arts of the Pontificia Universidad Católica. There he was a student and assistant to Eduardo Vilches.
Member of the “Escena de Avanzada” until his faith in the arts – a political faith – was «dissolved into a skeptic disinterest», as he himself stated.
In the 90s he returns with new visual languages and to modify the discursive strategies of art in Chile.
