Chilean artist. She studied an undergraduate degree in Arts at the Catholic University of Chile and later completed a master’s in visual arts at the University of Chile.
Prieto uses minerals to turn them into a body of work, thus creating paradoxes between material and meaning, functional and artistic objects, industrial and artistic production, between the exploitation of man and natural resources, between reflection and design.
Such formal encounters allow the artist to relate them to other uses and meanings, unthinkable when approaching the material, which in turn connect more broadly with the system of production of the objects and the imaginary that is being built with them.
